Hitman Patrick “Matches” Malone, recently fingered as the prime suspect in the two-year-old cold case involving the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound yesterday as a tipped-off police officer closed in on him at his Gotham-area apartment.
Malone has been suspected of a long list of murders in and around the city, but none as high profile as the Wayne case, which shocked the city and directed intense media attention on the sole survivor of the attacks, the Wayne’s young son, Bruce.
So far it is unknown if Malone worked alone. However, Gotham City detectives seem eager to close this case altogether. At press time, there has been no statement from Wayne representatives.
